First amendment right to record police is a critical check and balance for people living in free, open and Democratic society. It promotes the free discussion of governmental affairs as well as protects the democratic process. And for some communities, its a vital tool for uncovering, if not deterring, police misconduct. Taking photographs, video, and audio in public spaces is a constitutional right and that includes law enforcement officials carrying out their dutys!
If you are stopped by a police= do not complain or get into an argument, do not run, do not touch or lie or give false documents,
Do ask if you are free to leave. If they say yes, walk away,
If he says no remember you don't have to say anything and can't be punished for refusing to answer! Like I was, say you don't wanna speak say it outloud ,
In Kentucky you don't have to give your name if asked to identify yourself, I did this and was illegally charged against the constitution by a crooked Ross shurtleff prestonsburg police officer,
Do keep your hands to be seen.
Stay calm.
Do write down everything you can remember as soon as possible, badge numbers, patrol car number, witnesses, contact information like I was not allowed to do due to being threatened.
Do file a written complaint like I did but was refused by prestonsburg city police chief and the mayor,
Contact your local ACLU or nlg if you feel your rights was violated.
Do not ask prestonsburg officials for complaints cause they won't help you, only cover it up,
Remember you can film any officer best to live stream or upload immediately they will destroy your phone like they did mine!
They prosecuted me the officer committed perjury many times and others and broke many Kentucky statue laws, Ross shurtleff, cheif of police mayor judge marcum prosecution attorney Tyler green broke my rights and covered it up behind closed doors due to a law suit against prestonsburg ky and had a prestonsburg police officer Harpo castle fired for corruption then they rehired him ! And stalked me and still are, I've posted this on city police page many times they deleted it blocked me from reporting them!
Be warned justice department knows I film your officers and if anything happens to me you will answer for it, I am not the only one filming so best to what's right and stop stalking me and harassing me!
Corruption runs deep in prestonsburg its my legal right to film freedom of speech protest in a peaceful manner!
Upload any and all complaints and videos on these officers misconduct it will get into the right hands!
My sister was missing for years no one heard from her filed a missing persons report and then came a prestonsburg police, The police officer claimed he found my sister hacked up dead body said my brother in law murdered her wanted me to take vengeance on him and offered me a gun said no jury would convict a boy wanting justice for my sister many years ago and resulted in him being disgraced and fired, all over my brother in law and a crooked ksp ripping him off of co***ne and wanted it back and wanted my brother in law dead!
I will upload the court documents, why does the courts and these officers refuse to use cameras? Answer is clear!
