Congratulations to Caroline and Shane on their engagement!
When Shane reached out to me, he was looking for a secluded location by the river. We agreed on Elkmont really fast - it's gorgeous in October, and not many people are hanging out by the river that time of the year either. Lates Shane mentioned, that everything went the way he dreamed of. And that is the best compliment to hear!

What an honor to have this image selected as "Best of DEAHZED"!
I have been shooting a lot more with film since discovering Lomography Purple stock. It made me look at the world differently, and rediscover my love to hiking!

A few favorites from Kate and Collin’s engagement session in Cades Cove.

For engagement sessions, I’m drawn to a cinematic feeling: soft movement, beautiful light, quiet emotion, and the kind of moments that feel intimate without feeling forced.

I’ll guide you through the session with gentle direction, so you can relax into each other instead of worrying about how to pose. A walk through the field, a hand on the waist, a glance back, a little laughter between frames. Or maybe you get lucky and end up dancing in pouring rain while sunlight breaks through.

The goal isn’t stiff posing. The goal is to document romance, connection, and to create images that feel like you. Timeless.

Morton Overlook is one of the best places in the Smoky Mountains to watch the sunset.

The views are wide, dramatic, and absolutely beautiful, especially when the light starts falling behind the mountain ridges.

It’s a gorgeous location for couple photos or engagement portraits, but it is usually crowded at sunset. This is not the spot for privacy, but if you want spectacular mountain views, it’s one of the strongest options.

It is a great spot to finish a session!

Congratulations to Mallory and Isaiah on the engagement!
Mallory wanted a longer adventure with her fiancé. They chose a drive through the mountains to see the sunset at the Morton's overlook.
That drive (Newfound Gap Road) offers a lot of unique and beautiful photo spots!
In the winter, there are a lot less people are hiking, which means my favorite trails like Alum Cave and Chimney tops will have open parking.
I don't hike far for photos, but i know a lot of cute spots right next to the parking lot.
Or maybe 0.2 miles walk. Don't forget your comfy shoes, if we are goin on an adventure!

A quiet river spot can be a perfect choice for a Smoky Mountain proposal or couple session.

This location near Gatlinburg is easy to find, just a short walk from the parking lot, and I can easily hide before the proposal, which makes it a great option for surprise moments.

In the summer, I recommend going early in the morning before the swimmers and crowds arrive. The light is softer, the river is quieter, and the whole place feels more intimate.

Afterward, there are plenty of photo options nearby: river rocks, forest paths, soft greenery, and moving water.
