On July 2nd 2026 just north east of Gann Valley SD a supercell with a history of producing tornadoes presented my first photogenic tornado. This large and short lived EF-U danced across open fields causing zero damage while still giving an amazing show. Later that day Huron SD wouldn't be as fortunate as a tornado tore along old Hwy 14 followed by 109 straight line winds causing significant damage.

Just when I say im done for the year this pops up. There is a 2 percent chance of a tornado or two near the Mitchell, Huron, Wessington springs, Sioux falls areas. A cluster of supercells look to develope later this evening and into tonight moving north east along a warm front. Other hazards include egg size hail and 60 to 70 mph wind gusts. Im not sure if I will be in the field today or not but will certainly try to be.
