The golden light, the cozy sweaters, the crunch of leaves underfoot… fall is one of my very favorite times to photograph families.

Every year I’m reminded how fleeting this season is. Not just the season outdoors, but the season of life we’re in with our children. They change so quickly, and sometimes it feels like if we don’t pause to document it, we’ll blink and the moment will be gone. Do you also feel like each year passes faster than the last?

That’s why I love photographing families and maternity sessions in the fall. Of course the colors and light are beautiful, yes, but it’s really about the way this time of year invites us to slow down, gather close, and soak it all in before winter arrives. My sessions are never about stiff posing or perfect smiles, they’re about capturing connection, laughter, curiosity, and those little in-between gestures that say this is us, right now.

Proof of life post. If you’re wondering where I’ve been, here’s a peek at the current chaos of the past month:

• Getting our house ready to rent—which apparently means painting, fixing, and replacing everything we’ve ignored for years.

• Sorting through 17 years of accumulated stuff in preparation for our July move, while also trying to pack around all the things the kids still need daily

• Hunting for approximately one million tiny toy pieces (why are there always so many pieces??)

• Packing for our annual family trip to the shore and two out-of-town weddings—because obviously everything happens all at once

• Rescheduling lots of sessions thanks to weeks of nonstop rain

• Most importantly, still photographing all the adorable babies and families

Since school let out a few weeks ago, the chaos has definitely kicked up a notch. I promise I’m still here—just trying to survive this very full (and very messy) season of life.

I always say I’ll post more, but at least I’m consistently inconsistent, right? ;)

That Friday feeling! And only two more weeks of school until summer break begins.

May is flying by. I recently heard the term “May Mayhem,” and it perfectly sums up just how crazy this month is between work, holidays, birthdays, field trips and the school year wrapping up.

I’m currently looking forward to a simpler schedule when the kids are both home in June. But we’ll see if I change my ins when we enter into summer mode 😉.

Hoping everyone else is surviving this hectic month! We’re nearly there!

Pop-Up Mini Session Alert!

This weather lately… pure magic.
Spring is finally showing off, and it just feels too good not to celebrate it.

I’m adding a few mini session spots at Valley Forge Park this Monday, April 28, between 6–7:30 PM — right at sunset, when everything turns golden and glowy.

There’s something about April that always makes me nostalgic for my college days. Maybe it’s the warmth returning to the air, or the scent of flowering trees—those quiet signals of new beginnings.

How fitting, then, that we captured this family's maternity session at her alma mater. Students buzzed around us, soaking up the joy of spring and being outside again. A few gentle rain showers didn’t slow us down—we wandered Bryn Mawr College's campus, reminiscing and making new memories together.

I especially love maternity sessions with older siblings. There’s something so tender about documenting these last sweet weeks before life shifts and expands. Here’s to spring, to growing families, and to making space for both memories and new beginnings.

Spring school portraits are in full swing! I kicked off the season with Magic Memories Royersford earlier this month, and it was such a great reminder of why I love these sessions. There’s something so special about capturing kids just as they are—no forced smiles, no distractions, just their real personalities shining through.

I always use a soft, simple cream backdrop this time of year because it creates timeless, classic portraits that keep the focus where it belongs—on your child. These are the kinds of images that feel just as special years from now as they do today.
