Fall is such a wonderful season with crisper days and seasonal scenes, like this one from Ontario.

What a wonder! Loretto Chapel in Santa Fe had a few design issues and around its completion in 1878, no access existed to the choir loft. According to tradition, an unnamed carpenter appeared, built a 20-foot spiral staircase, and vanished without payment. Constructed with wooden pegs instead of nails and supported by a curved stringer rather than a central column, it has been called “miraculous” and even attributed to St. Joseph. Evidence, however, suggests one of three European journeyman carpenters.

The staircase has two 360 degree turns and no visible means of support. It is said that the staircase was built without nails—only wooden pegs. Questions also surround the number of stair risers relative to the height of the choir loft and about the types of wood and other materials used in the stairway's construction.

Over the years many have flocked to the Loretto Chapel to see the Miraculous Staircase. The staircase has been the subject of many articles, TV specials, and movies including "Unsolved Mysteries" and the full-length movie titled "The Staircase", starring William Petersen and Barbara Hershey.

How magical does this scene look?

In Lapland, Finland, you’ll be experiencing the real Arctic. Yes it’s cold! Suit up and add hand warmers to your gloves as you enjoy Dog sledding, Sámi reindeer farms, aurora hunting and more. Or spread out in your glass igloo and pinch yourself that you said “yes” to this getaway.

I would go back just to see the color of the sky.

Traveling is good for the soul!

If you are like me, some of your airline points might be in need a tap to stay active. I haven’t taken as many trips this year, and some airlines have a one-year expiration. Here’s a few tricks to keep them active:

Check the airline points website to see if there’s a low cost offer that offers points (last week I donated to the Red Cross and gained points for it). Or you can donate a portion / all of your points to a charity of your choice.

Join the airline restaurants partner. If you dine at participating restaurant, points will deposit in your account.

Link your account to your rideshare if there’s an offer and earn points!

Link your hotel rewards to your airline rewards. That way all your points are going to one goal, flying!

Share your points with a friend or family member.
