Rawr
2 x 3 inches
Acrylic on panel, framed

Power doesn’t always arrive in giant footsteps.

Sometimes it’s only 2x3 inches tall.

This tiny T-Rex was painted with my niece in mind. She used to love dinosaurs, and honestly, she has always reminded me of one: fearless, hilarious, loud when she needs to be, and completely herself.

There’s something I love about taking a creature known for its enormous presence and shrinking it down into the palm of a hand. The scale changes, but the energy doesn’t.

A tiny painting. A giant personality.

🦖 Rawr is a reminder that strength isn’t measured in size.

Two Hummingbirds

Some paintings arrive with a little more heart than expected.

Hummingbirds have always reminded me of my mother-in-law. We lost her about a year ago, and there are still moments when I find myself wishing I could share something with her, hear her laugh, or simply have one more conversation.

Lately, hummingbirds seem to be everywhere. Flashing past the studio window, hovering in the garden, appearing when I least expect them. Whether it’s coincidence or something more, they always make me smile.

This piece became a quiet reflection of that feeling. Two hummingbirds suspended in a world of color, movement, and memory. A reminder that love doesn’t disappear. It changes form and continues to visit us in unexpected ways.

If you’ve ever lost someone, I hope you’ve experienced those small moments that make you feel connected to them again.

Every painting has a story behind it. This week, I shared a bit of mine—from growing up around the world to finding my way back to the thing that has always felt most like home: creating art. 🎨

I grew up with koi fish in our family pond, and my parents still keep three of them to this day. Sitting beside the water and watching them glide beneath the surface always brought me a sense of calm. There’s something almost meditative about their movement, slow and deliberate, yet constantly flowing.

Koi have carried deep symbolism across many cultures for centuries. They’re often associated with perseverance, transformation, prosperity, good fortune, and strength through adversity. In Japanese folklore, the koi that successfully swims upstream and passes the Dragon Gate transforms into a dragon, becoming a symbol of resilience and becoming.

I wanted this piece to feel suspended between stillness and motion, like a moment of alignment. The geometric forms orbit around the koi almost like echoes of energy, memory, and current.

This painting was built from both personal nostalgia and reverence for these incredible creatures that have quietly remained part of my life for so long.

“Fortune’s Orbit” feels like a return to that peace.
