Fini flights are something quite special to witness. I mean, you can see by these pictures that it was an emotion filled, momentous, & fun occasion! I’m sure some of you are wondering… What is a fini flight? ✈️

Fini is short for final… as in final flight.
A “Fini Flight” is a military aviation tradition, particularly in the U.S. Air Force. It refers to the final flight that a pilot takes before retiring or leaving their current squadron/base. It is a ceremonial event that marks the end of their flying era of their career.
During a Fini Flight, after landing, the pilot is typically greeted with celebrations, which often include being sprayed with water & champagne by fellow service members, friends, and family. As you can see, in this particular squadron, it’s tradition to be tied up with duck tape while being sprayed as well. It might seem strange but it truly is a way of honoring the pilot and their contributions to the squadron and their overall service in the military aviation community. 🇺🇸✈️🤍

Family photos are one of the most fun & entertaining types of photoshoots I do. Would you believe me if I told you that during this session, it was SOOOO WINDY & COLD??? Oh! & little biting bugs called “noo-see-um’s” or “can’t-see-um’s” or whatever were thriiiiiiving & attacking us all??? Well. Both are true.😅😂 But this family, of whom which I LOVE, absolutely smashed this shoot. Absolutely incredible. Models. Literally. 🫶🥹

The key to a fun family photoshoot is just rolling with whatever your kid(s) are doing and try to relax! Just be yourself. I’d love for clients to smile at the camera every once in a while, but I really just prefer when they smile at each other. For my clients to be interacting with one another as a family as if a big (slightly intimidating) camera wasn’t even there… that’s the best.

My goal as a photographer is to help my clients to be as comfortable and cheerful as possible. This helps to create authentic emotions/moments that are captured in the photos I take!! It’s my job to not only capture your photos but to make your photoshoot fun, relaxed, and memorable. When you’re enjoying yourself, the best photos and emotions naturally happen!🤍📸

Alsoooo… As most of you know, if you follow me or have seen my content before, I mostly take photos of military families/military members. Being an Air Force wife myself, I’m fully aware that for these families, free time together is very limited. Being able to build this photography business for/around military families has been an incredible honor. The fact that these wonderful families choose to spend some of their EXTREMELY valuable time together with me is suuuuuch a privilege. Thank you to each and every family that chooses to spend some of their time in front of my lens! You all are so special to me & so very wonderful!📸🤍🫶🥹🇺🇸✈️

It’s been over a month since I posted last & you could say I have been a smidgen busy… 😅. (Or you could say I have been overflowing with blessings… drowning in squadron jet photos… culling/shooting/editing every second of my life… oh! And in between my photographer stuff, being a mom of 3 toddlers. Soooo yeah, all answers are correct.)

This past month I have spent more time sitting in front of my computer screen editing than I ever have in my career as a photographer. I can honestly say I am exhausted! But even more than that, I can say that I truly feel so, so joyful. Thank you to everyone who allowed me the honor of taking your family photos this year!! Seeing all of your faces on my screen for HOURS as I edit is a reminder of how cool my job is and how awesome the people I take photos of are. You guys are a gift. 🤍📸

As we come into the holiday season, my goal is to share some photos from some of my favorite shoots this year! I love reminiscing/looking back on the past year during December. Sooooo, let the memory sharing begin!! You guys are the best. Thank you for making it possible for me to do what I love to do as MY FULL TIME JOB! (Stay at home mom & a photographer… literally living my dream. 😭🤍)

I am hosting back to school minis with kiddos this weekend. They’ll be taken inside of my own home in my backdrop/studio space. The photos will be in black and white and look like the example photos below (NOT MY PHOTOS, but this is what I’ll be creating!!). I call them “personality pictures” 🥰. So, each slot is 10 min, $50, and you’ll receive unlimited edits. If a photo is good, it is yours! Please bring multiple kids if you have them & if you don’t think 10 min is enough time, book 2 or more slots. These photos are for kids only!! If your kid is a teenager, that counts too. 😉 I’m willing to take pics of kids together in 1 shot as well.

These photos make great decor, gifts, and are excellent memory holders of what your kiddos look like right this moment. So, so special! They change overnight it seems!

The desert is growing on me a little bit. Being able to take photos in a new place is refreshing!!!

One con I’ve found with moving/photographing here is that I think I need to figure out the sunset/golden hour situation though. When I lived in Wichita Falls in Texas, it was a relatively flat place. So, when the sun set, it matched with the time predicted on my phone. When the sun sets here, the mountains block the final sights of light!! Thus, golden hour/sunset is actually sooner than my phone says it’s going to be. (Yes, I learned this the hard way… not on this shoot but on my own when scoping out locations.)

It’s going to take me shooting here a few more times to figure it out. Anyone want to volunteer to model for me so I can practice my timing of photoshoots/locations in the desert mountains?!? 📸🌵🌅😅

For those of you who don’t know, I’ve been going through some big changes lately in my personal life & my business as well! Nothing toooooo crazy, but thought I’d give an update while sharing these photos of one of my fav couples ever.

Here’s the scoop:

- I’m no longer located in Wichita Falls/Sheppard AFB! I’m now located in Phoenix/Luke AFB!
- No more T-6, T-38, & ENJJPT event photos for me *cue sad tears*… now I’ll be posting pictures of the F-35 and it’s community of pilots/families *cue excited squeal*!!!
- I changed my prices! But, my business is still centered around being accessible & available to the military community. So, I am 50% off for military 🫶. I also have discounts for many other things sooooo DM or email me for more info/if you have questions!
- Im changing my style of photography to a more cinematic/documentary/storyteller vibe. I want to capture people being their amazing selves with less posing & more prompts that show emotion/authenticity. Capturing you being YOU! Of course I’ll still do poses as everyone needs a formal looking photo, but I do want to focus on just capturing the little moments that make your life so incredible. (The photos turn out too good!!!)
- I have a tonnnnn of ideas up my sleeve for photoshoots this year. So excited to share them with you all and hope to see you in front of my lens during some of them! 😉

Couples photos won the vote in my IG story yesterday!! I thought I’d tie in photos I take for my beloved military community as well! 🫶🏼✈️🇺🇸

Taking photos of military members with their loved ones has been one of the biggest joys and honors of my life. I have met so many INCREDIBLE people through being a photographer for so many military members and have made so many friends, too.
•
Being immersed in a USAF community has also taught me a lot… so let me share some knowledge with you! Some of you may already know these things I’m about to tell you. BUT, for those who don’t, here are some…..

🤩✈️⭐️FUN FACTS⭐️✈️🤩

⭐️ The airplanes featured in these photos are the type of aircraft that some USAF pilots learn to fly in! They are called “trainers” & both planes are dual seat. Thus, a student can sit in one chair & fly/learn while the other is occupied by a instructor pilot who teaches & also takes over if need be.
⭐️ The light colored aircraft with the propeller is called a T-6 and it is the first aircraft student pilots fly in phase one of training at ENJJPT.
⭐️ The gray, darker colored airplane is called a T-38 and it is the second (and much faster) plane that student pilots learn how to fly in training at ENJJPT.
⭐️ Both aircraft are very cool and very loved (by me… yes, I’m a nerd now thanks to my pilot husband.)
