A 600 mile chase yesterday started with a severe rain bomb in Safford, then watching a monster line of storms move into AZ from Mexico, and finaly a white-knuckle "I should just go home" drive from Tucson to Sells punching heavy rain and strong winds. But it sure was worth it at the end. It's not an easy area to chase, so I just pulled off on the first road I could see, setup and suddenly bolts were raining down all over. I quickly adjusted my camera from f/5.6 ISO 200 to f/9 ISO 100 and went to 10mm and hopped in my truck to be safe. At 10mm, this strike in reality was directly above me, those bolts only a few hundred feet away.
After this, I jumped out, threw it in the back, pulled the hatch closed behind me and crawled to the driver's seat 🤣
