I LOVED working on this project with CVMA 32-1 This is a 501(c)(3) organization that is comprised of combat veterans from all branches of the US Armed Forces. They provide assistance to individual veterans, other veteran organizations and veteran charities to support & protect those who have defended our country.

In your portrait session, that means I help you with suggestions on what to wear, give you options for backdrops and locations, ask you questions that give me a better understanding of your vision for your images.

I. Love. Dogs.

We didn’t have pets growing up so tbh it actually took me until well into adulthood (& having my own dog) to not have hesitation & some mild fear with approaching dogs.

Now, any time we go anywhere & we see a dog, I am like a little kid & shout “PUPPY!” 😂🤣🤦🏼‍♀️ I KNOW I’m not alone in this…I won’t call people out though LOL

When it comes to photographing dogs - or other pets - my goal is the same as with humans: to capture their sweet personality in images. Sometimes, as in the case with Hollis here 😍, it is super easy because he happens to be a complete supermodel & LOVES the camera. Other times, it takes a bit more patience & coaxing to help the pupper feel more comfortable in front of the camera…again, same as with humans LOL

Tell me about your sweet fur babies. Are they supermodels like Hollis or a bit slower to warm up to the camera?

What is personal branding?

✨ Personal branding is a portrait session that essentially allows you to incorporate your profession as well as your personality into your images.

📷 It’s more than just a headshot session - though you will also have plenty of opportunity for traditional headshot poses during your session.

📍 The session can include little details, like the really cool carving you can see on the organ in these photos😍, action shots (this is my FAVORITE part when I photograph musicians!!🎶), posed portraits of you at your desk/with your instrument/with your stethoscope or whatever prop is appropriate for your profession.

🖼️ Personal branding is a way for you to get numerous images to use on your website, for your own social media, marketing and any other way to help promote you and your business.

So if you’ve been following me for a while you know that I am a nurse practitioner in addition to being a photographer. [Hard to believe but I have been working in that role for 20 years now. 😮]

A little over a year ago, I changed to a new specialty: gastroenterology, or GI. It still makes me laugh to tell people “It is literally my job to talk 💩 every day.” 🤣😂

As you can imagine, the discussions I have with patients are pretty darn personal. 🫣 I don’t have a ton of time to develop a relationship where one would feel comfortable sharing initimate, private details of their bowel habits with someone they just met.

For the last 20 years, my job has been to allow space for patients to feel comfortable enough to share those details.

When it comes to photographing you, we get to have a lot more time together.
We talk before your session - sometimes several times.
I guide you every step of the way.
My job is to allow space for you to be completely, entirely YOU for your session.
And I promise I won’t make you tell me about your bowel habits 😳💩
