Long drive coming up with little kids? Here's what's actually in our car bag.

Yoto Player - genuinely changed our trips. Audiobooks and kids' podcasts and she'll listen for a solid stretch without needing a screen.

Snacks in a bag up front - simple, but being able to hand something back without pulling over is a small miracle.

Erasable writing tablets - keeps hands busy, zero mess, no markers rolling under the seat.

A new small toy or sticker book saved specifically for the car - the novelty factor is real.

And yes, downloaded movies on the iPad. No shame. Sometimes you just need to make it to your destination in one piece.

I photograph families the way I do because of what I actually want you to walk away with.

Not just pretty pictures. Not a set of images where everyone looks good but nothing feels familiar.

I want you to look at your gallery years from now and feel something. Recognize a moment. Remember how that stage of life actually felt.

The in-between stuff, the goofy, the tired, the tender, that's what holds up over time. That's what I'm chasing in every session.

Pretty fades. Real stays.

Sweet summer time is here. The weekends and evenings playing by the pool. Tiny bare feet with, swim suits drying on the pool fence while the kids sit wrapped in towels. Snacks eaten outside between swim sessions. Swim goggles and sunglasses strewn around the pool deck.

And so much sunscreen all the time.

The pool has still been a little too cold for me, but the kids have been enjoying getting back out there as things heat up. And really these are the days we live for.

I did something exciting and scary a little over a week ago.

I got rid of my safety net and quit my full time informatics nursing position.

Working full time, hustling to get this business up and running and parenting my kids has been a lot. Too much at times.

And so I made the scary decision to quit that job so that I can put all my efforts into building my dream business and my dream life.

So here goes!

We're heading back to San Diego at the end of the summer and a part of me is already dreading the drive.

I know 45 minutes in, the snacks will be gone, someone will announce 'this is boring,' and we'll still have most of the drive ahead of us.

Every family trip we take with young kids ends up feeling like a logistical operation disguised as a vacation. The planning, the packing, the trying-to-stay-calm-in-traffic part.

And yet somehow the memories we end up talking about most are always from those exact moments. The chaotic, imperfect, didn't-go-as-planned ones.

Funny how that works.

You're probably still figuring out what day it is.

I've sat in a lot of living rooms during those first few weeks, and the one thing I notice every time is how much is happening beneath the surface. The stories parents share while I'm setting up. The exhale when someone tells them it's okay if the baby cries. These sessions are quiet, slow, and almost always feel a little bit like permission to just breathe.

The longer you hang around here, the harder it gets to keep telling yourself the timing isn't right, the house is too messy, or the baby phase is moving too fast to pause and document it.

Because here's the thing I really believe: this season, exactly as it is right now, is already worth capturing.
