"The Wave", seen in the picture above, lies within a very restricted area of the Vermillion Cliffs National Monument. Only 20 people are let into the area per day, randomly selected by lottery. With luck on my side, and some cooperation from Mother Nature in the middle of winter, I am blessed to have been able to utilize the opportunity to be a part of this iconic landscape, made famous by Microsoft's screensavers in the 1990s.

This was my best attempt at capturing the majesty of the interior chamber of the historic Green Grotto Cave in Jamaica, along with the reflections off the placid waters that have accumulated after percolating through the limestone.

A 4-mile hike along a green river ended in this spectacular spot. First, my eyes got a workout; then, my camera got a workout. Lastly, I got mine after plunging in and getting some swim laps.

Intricate sandstone waves form when the rock gets beaten up by sun, wind, rain, and cold from various angles. As I found out when crossing this en route to the summit, these rocks are hard but very brittle; slipping on these is much less of a probability than falling off after a layer or two chip(s) off.
