Why I shoot
I have shot with Canon for the majority of my photography career and even before I was paid. I got into photography in 2016 purchased a Canon 6D and the EF 50mm 1.8 “Nifty Fifty” to start and jumped both feet in, in regards to photography and became obsessed. I switched to Sony and Nikon for a 3 years and came back to Canon and it truly love the colors, the settings menus everything. IMO Canon just has amazing colors straight of it camera and I don’t have to adjust things and I get my lighting set and I don’t touch colors. I’ve owned the R5 since October 2020 and it’s been in for repair 2 times both for things I did nothing wrong with the camera just hot shoe loose and stripped the tripod plate adapter so nothing on the camera and it’s a tank and can be put through everything! I know it overheats with video some times but other than that I am obsessed with the camera and I’ve wanted to upgrade to the R5 Mark II or R3 or R1 but just haven’t yet and investing more into more canon glass and perfecting my craft. So many photographers I see that are highly renowned have some older cameras and lenses that they just know and that’s where I’m at now. It’s like muscle memory with manipulating the camera. I can’t tell you off the top of my head but my hands just move and adjust it!
Anyway just saw this photo in my camera roll and just thinking about how the colors just pop.
Shot on: R5 & RF 100mm 2.8 Macro (my favorite lens hands down!)

Trust the process…
Don’t stop jump in and fully commit to your craft no matter what field it’s in.
First, third, and forth photo are from almost 10 years of shooting cocktails and the second is the first cocktail photo I ever took in May of 2017. You’re gonna suck at first. Embrace it. Fail. Failure makes you who you’re today. Get up after being knocked down and tell yourself you’re gonna be the best. You have to tell yourself you are going to be the best. You’re your biggest hype man. You manifest things you write down and tell yourself.
I still have so much to learn and want to grow my craft past just snapping photos. I don’t know where it’s going to take me but photography has opened some amazing doors for me. Especially being a side hustle and still have a 9-5 job in IT.
