Mention coffee in the Phoenix East Valley, and there’s a good chance that Anthony’s name will come up in that conversation. Also known as , I first crossed paths with him about 5 or 6 years ago. Back then, he was just starting his journey with Peixoto Coffee in Downtown Chandler, and I had just started a new job, in a new city.

Isn’t it crazy how in one year you can go from reading them their favorite story books and then next year they're reading TO YOU about a dog named Biscuit and why you shouldn't let pigeons drive the bus?

And then one random day they ask what “ICKY YICK” means because they were looking over your shoulder and saw an IG story that said “IYKYK” across the screen.

It’s crazy how they know when you’re phoning it in… like when you’re not doing the little pig’s voice right. And don’t you dare think about skipping any pages. They know these books front to back and can recite them line by line from memory, but they still want to hear it FROM YOU.

It’s crazy how a teacher told me that she can easily tell which kids in her class have parents that read to them, and sadly which ones don’t.

These little moments will be gone before we know it. So whenever I get to capture images like this one, I take it as a gentle reminder to myself to be present more often and make these tiny moments count.
