An incredibly fun shoot with Teton Ridge bull riders. Being a last minute shoot we ended up having to shoot at the wear house. These guys were a blast to shoot with and made my job easy. For set design the client wanted all black background, but I wanted to not have such a studio feel and wanted to incorporate natural materials, so for the background I used a 12x12’ duv, and for the floor I used my old RV gate planks that I saved. Got creative with lighting with my vision and the space we had. But landed on the following setup. I wanted a somewhat soft natural light feel. Key was a Profoto pro head with a large white umbrella shooting in a 12x12’ china silk overhead. Edge was a pro head in a large photek umbrella behind backdrop and slightly above it. Fill was a XL silver umbrella behind camera. I also used 2 v flats to soften the shadows a bit. Lastly I used a pro head in a 1x4’ strip as a catch light. This light would float around to make sure the eye caught it. Also my lens was dirty so much of the bokeh and “haze” is an in camera effect from the backlight. Thank so much for the opportunity Teton Ridge and Derrick Spencer. Thank you Mike and Chais for the assist!
