Pt. 2 - What February actually looks like for Arizona engagement sessions ⬇️ (don’t forget to save for future engagement photo planning)
• Temperature: Expect upper 50s – 70s during golden hour. It should feel REALLY nice leading up to sunset, but once the sun dips, you’ll still notice that cooler desert air settling in—just not quite as crisp as January.
That said, this past February was noticeably warmer than usual, with daytime highs reaching into the 90s—so it’s always smart to keep an eye on the forecast as your session gets closer.
• Outfit recs: This is such a fun in-between month for outfits. Think long dresses (with or without sleeves), light sweaters, flowy fabrics, denim, or layered looks you can easily adjust. You can definitely start leaning a little more “spring,” but still keep a layer handy for after sunset.
• Start time: For a 1-hour session capturing both golden hour and a bit of blue hour, you’ll typically start between 5:00–5:40 PM. (Timing shifts a bit later as the month goes on and depends on your specific location + light conditions.)
• Lighting: The sun is still relatively low in the sky compared to summer, which means soft, flattering light for longer—but you’ll notice days gradually getting brighter and slightly harsher than peak winter. Still one of the easiest months to photograph in overall.
• Desert colors: This is where things start to shift. Depending on rainfall, you may see hints of fresh green popping up, along with little pops of soft yellow wildflowers—especially later in the month. The desert still leans neutral, but it feels a little more alive compared to January—like it’s on the edge of blooming.
February might be one of the most underrated months for photos in Arizona 👀
