Our deepest condolences to the Finkle family on the loss of sweet Mouse. 💔

Thanks to you, little guy with a big personality, for being a supermodel and for the part you played in my crazy decision to fly across the world and hang out with a bunch of nutty dog people with cameras. You had a big, indirect, impact in a lot of places. But, then again, the little guys usually do 😉 Run free and bark lots, Mouse 🌈🐾

The entire morning we were with Maya and her sisters, I so wanted to drop some water on her little head and see if she would multiply - because who wouldn't want another dozen of those faces to pop up!? Those ears... 😍 Lucky for us she's just a Mogwai impersonator because keeping this girl out of the light would be a crime! 🎥

Don't let the golden years speed by. Those of us with large breed dogs can take for granted that our babies are considered seniors starting at, or around, 7 years old 🥺 Especially those of us that have been blessed enough to have relatively spunky, happy seniors.

I've been lucky to know Zinnia (Zin) of The Benjamin Crew Chronicles since she was just a little baby. At 9 years old this year, she still does extremely well, especially for a coming up on double digits. Her mom and dad understand how important it is to create memories now. We all want to remember our family at their best - adorable, sweet and happy with a little extra frosting on their face 🧁 Or, in this case, with some ooey, gooey, honey colored sunshine around them while they thought no one was looking 😊

New puppy - who dis?! No, she didn't come home with me 😂 Sometimes you get a bonus puppy that tags along on a session. Say hi to Scoops!💗 will give you a much longer, proper name but, for now, I'm sticking with Scoops because, 😍 how cute is that.

This little fluffernutter is a rare breed called a Löwchen, or little lion dog. They're known for being brave and affectionate. Obviously you can see the affectionate part but it's also surprising how literally *nothing* phased this little baby all morning. People, noises, nothing. She just pops up out of her little carrier for lovin's when requested 💖 Something tells me you'll see more of her in the future 😉

This is what happens right after you say, "I don't know if he's going to be a runner..." during a session. And then, bam, he kicks rocks 🤣

It's a very special day here today for a very special boy. ❤️ I don't know how it happened but, baby Gus is somehow 4 years old today!! 🎂🐾
Every year that you get to celebrate with your babies is special. In some cases, though, it's a little extra special.
As you may have noticed from my logo and photos, Dobermans are "my" breed. Some of you may not be aware that Dobes come with a pretty hefty list of health concerns to watch for. One of the main ones being heart disease. It's always a risk but, in Gus' case his genetics are... well, not favorable in that respect. We've already had some unnerving test results so we watch him very closely.
We invested in a holter monitoring system years ago (think 24hr ECG), he gets regular echocardiograms, sees a special vet for holistic support in addition to his regular vet and chiropractor. We do every. single. thing. that I can think of to make sure he (and his sister Edana) see their next birthday. It's hard sometimes. But, when you love a breed, whether it's AKC registered or a 100% purebred good boy[girl] you do it all. And I document him as much as I can.
So here's to another year of you, Gussy boy. The sweetest and most sensitive baby there is. We love you so much❤️
So you see, I am just as much the crazy dog mom as all of you. It's why I do what I do!
