Still on a high from rodeo weekend! 🖤

Every gives me a deeper appreciation for the athletes who step into that arena. The skill, the discipline, the courage and the very real risk of getting hurt. They put their bodies on the line for the love of the sport. For the love of rodeo.

We’re cheering, having a time, enjoying the show, but I hope we all appreciate what it takes to give us those moments. These athletes deserve their flowers. 🤎

I’m the media manager for Black Rodeo USA. Sometimes I’m the one talking to you in the DMs, sharing your posts, accepting collaborations, capturing, coordinating and creating content, writing captions, and making sure the posts actually get posted.

Step into class. 😂📚

Most of my sessions start at $500 and go up from there. If you use those images for 365 days, that $500 works out to $1.37 a day. Less than your daily coffee or matcha. Honestly you can’t even barely buy a pack of gum with that.

Meanwhile, those images are on your website, promoting your services, introducing your business, and helping you show up long after the shoot is over.

The planning, equipment, shooting, editing, and experience behind that work cost something. Constantly discounting it isn’t sustainable. Yes photographers have overhead expenses.

No more discounts. More licensing.

I thought I was going to an invitation-only event. Apparently, I was also scheduled for a mindset check. 😂

That room reminded me that I’m a vet. A leader in my industry. And the streets need me… the photography streets, specifically. 🤣👀

But it also showed me where I need to grow.

I always say I suck at small talk. But is the talk really “small” when you’re in a room full of opportunity?

Somebody in there could be your next collaborator, client, or the person who says your name in another room. And they won’t know what you bring if you never open your mouth.

I know what I can do behind the camera. Now I need to bring that same confidence into the conversation.

Mindset shift. Immediately.

Y’all comfortable working a room, or do you find one person and stick beside them all night? 😂👀

❤️ Community isn’t an aesthetic. It’s not a buzzword, a caption or something you holler when it’s convenient.

Community is who you hire. Who you pay. Who you recommend. Who you give access and opportunities to.

There are too many talented Black photographers, designers, videographers, strategists, creative directors….ETC for this to keep happening.

📣 And if you gasped, your jaw dropped or you rolled your eyes when you read this…I’m talking directly to you.
