She told us on our very first call that he makes her laugh in half their photos.
Amanda and Rene have known each other since grade school. They had a crush on each other in high school, went their separate ways, then found each other again in college. He started giving her rides home and they realized they lived a few streets apart. For their first real date he took her to a movie he’d already seen, because he wanted to watch her see it for the first time.
When we asked what she wanted from her wedding photos, Amanda didn’t name a pose or a place. She said she wanted people to finally see how she really feels about him.
So we watched for it.
It was there in her bridal portraits, when she couldn’t stop laughing at something just out of frame and we’re sure you know exactly who it is.
It was there before a single guest arrived, when they read their vows to each other alone in the garden. She cried through every word while he smiled through all of the promises he made her and the life he’s so excited to build with her.
It was there when he leaned in and whispered something only she could hear, and she laughed the way she always does. Just like she told us she would.
It was there on the dance floor as they held onto each other while the party carried on around them. It was a true movie-like moment where only they existed in the world for a split moment.
And it was there at the very end, as their guests filed away. Rene lifted her up in the middle of the now empty dance floor and for a few moments, the whole night belonged only to the two of them.
Sometimes the person you’re meant to be with, the person in which your world’s axis revolves around, lives only a few blocks from you.
