Edificio Capitol

The Edificio Capitol, is a 14 story Art Deco-style building that sits prominently on the Gan Via in Madrid, Spain. It houses the Capitol Hotel and a 2,000 seat cinema and once was home to a seltzer water factory.

Completed in 1933, it received several design and architecture awards for it's advanced technology.

The building has become an icon of both the Gran Vía and the city, and in 2018 it was declared a Monument of Cultural Interest (BIC) by Madrid's Regional Government.

I'm pleased to announce that I've been awarded Third Place in Photojournalism in the 2023 Black & White Spider Awards (https://www.thespiderawards.com/) for my image 'Alone'. I also received an Honorable Mention and a Nomination in Architecture, and a Nomination in Children of the World.

'Alone' was taken in a mental hospital in the mid-70's, a time when treatment for the 'mentally ill' was often rudimentary. I never knew the patients name; I'm not identifying the location as to do so at this point would serve little purpose.

We are very pleased to announce that David Fonda been named as a Winner at the 16th Annual Black & White Spider Awards receiving an Honorable Mention in Architectural Photography for his photograph 'Officer's Row, Fort Hancock' in Sandy Hook, NJ.

David also had three additional images Nominated in the Architectural Photography category: National Gallery, East Building; Ocean Casino; and Balconies, Fendi Chateau.
