May I humbly submit this with all gentleness. I understand the need to DIY projects. We don’t always have the time or financial resources to hire a professional. But when intentionality and careful planning are missing, and everything becomes cookie-cutter, the work can suffer more than it helps.

Too often, DIY ex*****on limits your reach to your immediate circle. Congratulations from friends and family feels good, but it does not make a project scalable.

Even if you cannot hire a professional, at least consult with one. A little guidance can save time, strengthen your vision, and elevate the final result.

As tools become more accessible, it becomes easier to copy and paste instead of truly create. Accessibility is a gift, but it should not replace thoughtfulness, strategy, and care.

Really take time to consider the difference between done and done well.

This was the beginning of a movement built on intention, community, and purpose.

🦉 CLASS IS IN SESSION!

You wrote the book. You published the book. Now let’s talk about how your book arrives.

Your reader’s experience doesn’t start when they open the cover. It starts the moment that package hits their doorstep. The unboxing IS part of the story, and you get to design that moment.

Here are 3 ways to elevate your shipping game:

1. Brand Your Box With Custom Shipping Tape

If you’re shipping hardcovers or larger orders in cardboard boxes, custom packing tape is a game changer. Think your logo, your tagline, your brand colors wrapping the outside of every package. Before they even open it, they already feel like they ordered something special. Because they did. I designed mind in Canva using the logo template & size and order from Sticker Mule for $19.

2. Choose Bubble Mailers That Complement Your Book’s Color Palette

This is the detail most indie authors overlook. Your mailer is the first thing your reader sees. If your cover is rich burgundy and gold, ship it in a black or deep wine-colored bubble mailer. Soft pink cover? Try a blush or white mailer. The goal is harmony. When the packaging feels like it belongs with the book, the whole experience feels curated and intentional.

3. Add a Personal Touch Inside

Tuck in a handwritten thank-you note, a bookmark, or a small card with a QR code linking to a playlist or bonus content. These little extras cost very little but they turn a transaction into a connection. Your reader will remember how you made them feel.

Your book is a product AND an experience. Package it like the gift it is.
