I’m so happy I got to play on Mount Hood with and . So glad they let me teach them skills to keep them safe and have fun. Also hilarious to watch two ski racers use crampons :)

Air Ops might be one of the most complex things on a fire. So many moving pieces both on the ground and in the air. Helicopters and air tankers are used in conjunction with ground firefighters to being in water or retardant to stop the fire from spreading.

The interaction of the moon and the oceans is an incredible thing. However it’s effect on fire is very little. This was taken from our spike out point. The winds hit 45+mph and the fire made another run.

The weather today didn’t cooperate today. The winds were gusting 40mph. The line could not be held. Our Division made the call to fully pull out and we are all safe. Tomorrow is another day.
