Proverbs 21:2-6 KJV
God Looks at the Heart”
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.
The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.
The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
These verses remind us that sometimes we think our decisions are right because they look good in our own eyes. But God does not only look at what we do—He looks at our heart, our motives, and our intentions.
Simple Learnings
1. God knows our heart.
We may be able to hide our real intentions from people, but we cannot hide anything from God. Before making decisions, we should ask, “Is this pleasing to God?” and not only, “Is this good for me?”
2. Obedience is more important than outward appearance.
Proverbs 21:3 says,”To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.”
Hindi sapat na marami tayong ginagawa sa church kung hindi naman tayo obedient sa Word of God. God wants a life that is right and sincere.
3. Pride can lead us in the wrong direction.
Verse 4 warns about a proud heart. Kapag masyado nating pinagkakatiwalaan ang sarili nating wisdom, maaari tayong mapalayo sa will ni Lord. We need humility and dependence on God.
4. Be diligent, not lazy.
Verse 5 teaches that the plans of the diligent lead to abundance, while hastiness leads to want. Magplano, magtrabaho nang mabuti, at huwag maging padalos-dalos. God honors diligence and patience.
5. Do not seek success through dishonesty.
Verse 6 reminds us that treasures gained by lying are temporary and empty. Mas mabuti ang kaunting blessing na galing sa Diyos kaysa malaking bagay na nakuha sa maling paraan.
Personal Application
As Christians, we should not simply ask, “Is this what I want?” We should ask, “Is this what God wants?” Let us keep our hearts humble, obey His Word, work diligently, and always choose honesty.
