Down the aisle…

Classic aisle shots will always have a special place in my heart. If you’re having any part of your wedding in a dark or low-lit space where your photographer can't use flash, make sure to ask your photographer to share galleries that highlight low-lighting situations. This will help you envision the photos from all parts of your day in all types of lighting. Mastering non-flash photos, in dark settings is a technique that has taken me a long time to develop. Making sure that the photos have sharp detail and are still bright enough to match my style has definitely been a challenge. Knowing my gear inside and out and understanding the dynamics of lighting helped me to achieve the style of photo I wanted to create while keeping the image nice and clear.

Let’s talk about accessories…

This year there are so many wedding trend from bows to headbands to and embroidered veils. There are so many little creative things that you can embrace to make your look unique. But YOUR DAY IS YOUR OWN, YOUR LOOK IS YOUR OWN! if you want to be comfy on your day, be comfy, if you want to wear those 5 inch pumps that make you the tallest in the room- DO IT! If you want to go all out dec out your veil + shoes, max out your jewelry and wear the princess gloves. Even in these photos where the bride was wearing the most beautiful little coat it made the whole look- simple, elegant, and classy🤍

Some ideas…

For my minimalist brides- simple hair styles and non embellished dresses are a great way to keep things simple. Also try a head band to keep your hair out of your face and a clean look.

For my extravagant brides- a super colorful and large bouquet, long veil and train, embellishments from jewelry to your dress are a great way to jaz your look up.

one down…

Logan and I photographed our first wedding of 2024 with Elizabeth and Resul! Their Quaker wedding was one of the most beautifully community focused weddings I have ever experienced. During their ceremony they held an hour of silence where family and friends stood up to give the couple loving words of encouragement and speak kindly about past memories with the couple. All of their friends and family signed the marriage certificate after the ceremony as a uniting experience with all of their loved ones. I am so excited to continue photographing love stories throughout 2024, this was a great way to start off the year right 🤍

Invite your family members to family photos…

✨ Make sure all of your family who you would like to have photos with are aware that they will be in family photos. A fun way to do this is to send them an invitation to family photos with notes on when and where family photos are happening. This will help your photographer and make the day run so much smoother!

mimosas in white…

I have something to admit, getting ready might be my favorite part of the wedding day. The excitement of the wedding party before the couple says yes, gathering all the detail shots and cheery candids is my absolute favorite 🥰

Here are some tips for getting ready

✨ Carve out a lot of time for getting ready. Getting ready is typically the part of the wedding day that runs over into the ceremony and may even push back the entire day. Plus there is no reason to be stressed or in a rush during getting ready. Carve out plenty of time to get ready with your wedding party, take photos, and have a mimosa cheers 🥂

✨The wedding party hair and makeup typically go first and then the person getting married. This helps everything stay fresh and gives less worry about smudging makeup or your hair falling.

✨Have food and drink for you and your wedding party. Your wedding day is longggg. You don’t want to be hangry or feel faint on one of your most important days, so make sure to eat before or during getting ready. Plus it is always nice to share a meal with the ones you love.

✨MIMOSAS!! I LOVE a good mimosa photo or a champagne pop and spray. (Swipe to see photo of mimosa pop) Plus it helps to loosen up any nerves! Even if you don’t drink alcohol having mocktails can be a great way to include everyone in a cheers.

greens and whites…

The combination of greens and white is my all-time favorite color combo. Leafy greens, pine greens, vibrant greens I LOVE THEM ALL! Every time I have the chance to photograph green scenery at a wedding makes my photography brain so happy🥰 Even in post while editing, it may take a couple of moments to make the greens exactly right but once you get it, it feels like magic ✨
