I am not sure I have ever been more proud of where I have been & what I am doing. π· β€
Last weekend, I attended an event a very kind and creative friend of mine started. We met online years ago but did not get the opportunity to work together professionally until last year, 11 days after my excision surgery. We had a blast even with my dire need for painkillers and the 100+ degree South Texas heat. She kept me on standby for the next time she hosted an event. Enter Dawn of a New Market, stage right.
I attended as the event photographer and left . . . feeling like family. It's been no secret that I have felt lost and not really known my place. Ary and her crew made sure I felt right at home, shooting in my knee-high combat boots with my trusty pocket knife sticking out. I set up a spooky season style backdrop with a disco ghost theme. ( Yeah, we're making Disco Ghost a vibe - a real thing! π» ) We offered some free photos to engage the crowd and well, everyone loved it.
The feedback I have received from both attendees and vendors has been . . . astounding. I am mind-blown by the sheer level of support and commentary I received. This was not a therapeutic event so I was not expecting to be hit with such levels of depth and vulnerability; it all just affirms that I am doing the dang thing. I'm where I am meant to be, doing the thing I am meant to be doing, & everything is going to be okay.
When all is said and done, remember that people come into your life for a reason and you might never know that reason. Every now and then, you're blessed with the opportunity to see exactly how your words, thoughts, actions, and reactions change the course of your life and others'. Keep walking the good walk; keep fighting the good fight. It's all going to be okay. & when it's not, I will be here to remind you.
Forevermore,
Your friendly neighborhood bo***ir photographer & favorite Goth Barbie
P.S. : OMG, did these photos come out so beautiful or what?! π
