"""The honor of the people lies in the moccasin tracks of the woman.
Walk the good road....
Be dutiful, respectful, gentle, and modest my daughter...
Be strong with the warm, strong heart of the earth.
No people goes down until their women are weak and dishonored, or dead upon the ground.
Be strong and sing the strength of the Great Powers within you, all around you.""

The photo on the right is one of the few photos that exist from my days at boarding school at Holy Childhood School, Harbor Springs, MI. I was 12 years old. I remember the jacket because my parents brought it to me before winter and it was bright orange. I loved it. The photo on the left is me today. The quilt wrapped around me I received in the mail today from the The National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition (NABS) their mission is to foster healing and understanding among Indian boarding school survivors, their descendants, and Tribal Nations.
The time between that young child and grown woman is a lifetime. Mine. On October 23 just a few weeks ago my Daughter Kelsey gave birth to a healthy and strong baby girl named viviENNE. Time marches on and forgiveness is the key. I am grateful. Blessings!

Such a wonderful story. Enjoy!

Such a wonderful story. Enjoy!

Spending time with the John/Ogemagegedo family on the water, one experiences their connection to place and love for Gichi-wiikwedong (Grand Traverse Bay).
