Indoor lighting can be tricky… but when it works, it’s stunning. 🤩

Different indoor spaces all come with their own kind of light, and it’s rarely perfect or predictable.

A lot of experience as a wedding photographer is learning how to adjust in real time. Like reading the room, working with mixed light, and knowing when to use natural light, flash, or both so everything still feels true to the moment.

When it’s handled well, indoor weddings end up feeling warm, timeless, and really intimate in photos.

With summer wedding season coming up, here are a few things we always tell our couples to think about. ☀️

Timing ends up meaning more than people expect in the summer. The light gets strong fast, the heat can shift the pace of the day, and even something like when you plan portraits can completely change how the rest of the timeline feels.

And flexibility really is everything. Summer weddings rarely follow the timeline perfectly, and the best days we’ve seen are the ones where there’s a little room to move things around without stress, so the day can breathe a bit. 😌

We’ve photographed a lot of New Jersey summer weddings, and these small things are often what make everything feel smoother and more enjoyable once the day is actually happening.

How do we show the energy of the dance floor in a single frame? 🪩

If we’re being honest, you don’t really “figure it out” once the music starts. You just stay in it. Moving with everyone else, watching for moments as they happen, and reacting fast because nothing stays still for long. 💃🏼

It’s dark, it’s loud, people are all over the place, and somehow that’s when some of the best moments happen. The kind you don’t plan for, but definitely do not want to miss! 🕺🏻

That’s what makes dance floor coverage so different every single time.
