Whenever I meet a new client they are always pretty apprehensive. A lot of them have never had a photography session focused on them. They start off kind of hiding and focusing on their outfit and poses. However, this amazing thing happens somewhere between the first pose and about the 5th pose. They start to open up. They let a little piece of their guard down. Then the real fun starts. We laugh, talk, and really start to capture the person inside. Those are my favorite moments!

Black and white is my favorite. It strips away all the pretense, all the colors that our brains assess and judge. It lets the real person shine through. You notice so many more details in black and white than you ever would otherwise.

Who has the best grandma?? Is your mom a grandma yet? Have you realized that those grandkids have a whole different set of rules than you did? She freely gives candy, cookies, donuts, pizza, ice cream. All the things you were told you could only have one serving of. I don't suppose its fair but I'm pretty sure she earned it. Our Story

When I was in 8th grade I had a friend who’s house I would often stay at. You know, girlie slumber party nights, staying up chatting, etc. My friend was a size small, wore a size 5 shoe, and was truly the girl all the guys wanted to date. I, on the other hand, had not escaped puberty hormones unscathed and was around 200 pounds and an XL-XXL. I always CRIED when I went shopping guys, it was bad! I wasn't healthy and I was very big for my short frame (only 5’2”). One might think that we were an unlikely pair and truly we were, but we shared life experiences that brought us together.

This friend was super into fashion, and I was too but being the size I was I didn’t show it much. But, the most magical thing happened when I went to this friends’ house. We would dress up and take photos, a fashion show. She would dress me out of her closet and we would snap pics and laugh and just have fun. This friend always insisted I fit in her size 0-2 clothes and you know what, it was like the closet of the traveling clothes! I always seemed to fit into what she gave me to put on. I’m sure I wasn’t the skinniest looking in them but they went on! What I remember about this friend more than anything was how much she told me how pretty I was. Here I was putting my extra large self in her size small clothes and all she could do was tell me how pretty I looked! This friend loved me, she just did. There were no strings, there was no “you’d look great if you lost five pounds”, no talking behind my back, just real true love and friendship.

And that is what I’m here for. I am here to tell you how pretty you look, to really mean it, to show you how pretty you ALREADY ARE! You are a one in a million and I want you to know it!
