I watched portions of the presidential inauguration yesterday, and I am more convinced now that America is entering the Golden Age of Stupidity. Americans are suffering from a disease that has no cure. In the name of some distorted ideology, we have become the masters of idiocy., and I fear that this stupidity has not reached its pinnacle. The diagnosis is not good. Republicans have cast aside pure reason and common values and have become carriers of the disease. Their capacity to believe any nonsense place before them is shocking, and they do not recognize the judgment errors in themselves. They believe in things that are completely unbelievable. To be human is to be easily fooled, but not 24/7. Their gullibility is like the trees that hide the forest. It is difficult to tell if the brain is half empty or half full. We hold other people responsible for their actions, but not these immune few. Sometimes it appears as though the idiocy is intentional. Ordinary citizens in their collection political passion have become militant, and contradicting everything America represents. This "sovereignty" is approaching fascism. The new social erosion and polarization will only weaken our country. We now have a national ruler that is immature, narcissistic, and immoral. His lies, illusions and behavior are embarrassing. He swore to defend the Constitution, but freed Capital rioters that fought to overthrow that same policy. He claimed it was just a peaceful gathering where several were killed. This is not how wee safeguard democracy. I'm certain that the families that had loved ones killed in the riot will appreciate Trump releasing the murderers. There are no consequences anymore. This ignorance goes beyond the ordinary. Contaminated mines do strange things. A certain amount of stupidity inevitable...but geeez, it shouldn't be unconditional and acceptable. Hypocrisy has no limits. Surprisingly, the Earth is still flat.
