Having moved around so much, my grandparents farm became a home base early in my life. Everything is nostalgic here. The smell, the kitchen, the carpet in their old bedroom, the cereal cabinet. Memories of snow on Christmas and Grandpa teasing my red converse. Playing in the dog kennel and stairwell with cousins. That one summer I watched my sister cut her hair in the bathroom sink, and learned to drive on dirt roads. Kevin. Not knowing if I was more scared of the tornado warnings or the basement. Playing cards with Grandma at the kitchen counter. Meteor showers and lightning bugs. That one early morning Grandpa taught me how to bottle feed a calf, and getting to see his last wheat harvest. I never lived here, but I grew up here. Incredibly grateful to return to a place that held so much of my childhood - feels like getting a small piece of that time back. 💛 (miss you grandma and grandpa)
