So typically I will do a raffle to raise money for school stuff, band stuff, generally things the kids want, well and today is no different 🤪
With that being said…it’s

But first…
A little life update because life is still very much life-ing over here. 🫠
We are STILL out of town. We STILL have trees through our house. We STILL have no power. And we are STILL waiting on the insurance company to give us the go ahead to even attempt to start removing the trees.
Me and the kids are still hanging out in Alabama, and if I'm being completely transparent, the thought of going home has been incredibly overwhelming. Mainly because I genuinely have no idea where we're going to go once we get there. 😭
SOOOO, long story long (because again I never have a short story 😂), I'm going to do a little

CHRISTMAS MINI SESSION RAFFLE! 🎄📸

I'm hoping to raise a little money to help extend our stay here in Alabama until we head back this weekend for one of my boys' homecoming. And MAYBE sneak in a trip to LEGOLAND Discovery Center for the kids because it's been on our list forever, and what better time to finally check something off the list than when you're need to not “waste” money

I'm trying my hardest to make this whole experience feel a little more like an adventure for the kids and a little less like the stressful mess that it actually is.

Hi client besties!
First off, I hope everyone made it through the hurricane safely and that your homes and properties were spared from any damage!❤️ My heart goes out to everyone who wasn't so lucky. I know so many of us are dealing with a whole lot right now.

Now I guess it’s time for a little life update from your favorite slightly overwhelmed photographer. 😂😭
If you’ve been wondering why I’ve been a little quiet or why your gallery hasn’t landed in your inbox yet… well, here’s why. 🫠
We evacuated before the hurricane hit, and thank goodness we did because our house took quite the beating from several trees. We still haven't all been able to come home because our house isn't safe to live in right now.
Ryan and our oldest son headed back after the storm to start cleanup while I stayed behind in Alabama with the other kiddos. Unfortunately, they're pretty much at a standstill back home. We're waiting on our insurance company, who has been less than helpful so far, and we've been told not to touch anything until someone comes out to assess the damage.
Meanwhile, we have holes in our roof that we can't completely cover because there are still trees in it, electrical issues that make it so when the power is turned back on we have to keep ours shut off, and a whole lot of questions about what insurance will actually cover. And from what we're hearing about our insurance company… let's just say my confidence isn't exactly through the roof. Which is ironic, considering the current state of ours. 🙃 (a roof that was just replaced a few years ago 🤪)
Financially, it's a lot. Emotionally, it's a lot. And trying to figure out how long we're going to be displaced while still keeping life and a small business going? A LOT.
Willow's room unfortunately took the worst of it, which absolutely breaks my heart because that little girl LOVES her room. We're looking at having to get rid of so many of her toys, stuffed animals, and clothes that came into contact with the old insulation. It's just stuff, I know, and we are SO thankful we're all safe. But it's still hard watching your kids potentially lose the things they love.
In the meantime, I'm over here in Alabama trying to suck up the tears and turn this whole thing into some kind of unexpected vacation for the kids. 😂 Making memories, finding fun things to do, and trying to keep their little minds off everything happening back home. The picture of us smiling (one of the few I am in bc honestly I’m a hot ball of crying mess) is brought to you by very little sleep, a whole lot of caffeine, and a mom who is doing her absolute best to hold it together. ❤️
I think I'm currently functioning on approximately 3 brain cells, and I'm pretty sure two of them are arguing with each other.
Now, for the photography side of things!
If you're waiting on a gallery, PLEASE bear with me. I'm doing my best, but between the lack of sleep, the stress, and not knowing when we'll be able to go home, things are moving a little slower than usual.
If you have a session booked with me this week, I'll be reaching out as soon as I can as we figure out what the next few days look like. I truly have no idea how long we're going to be gone.
And for my Holland Farms clients 😔 Unfortunately, they took a pretty big hit from the hurricane as well, and it doesn't look like they'll be able to open this season. 😭 I'll be reaching out to everyone booked there to discuss possibly moving sessions to another location or issuing refunds.
I hate having to put things on hold, especially during my busiest season of the year. Photography is not just something I love doing, it's also part of how I help support my family, so having everything come to a screeching halt right now is a little terrifying. Ryan and I are both unable to work. Him due to trying to do what he can around the house and me due to my office being at home.
Anyway, long story long (because apparently I don't know how to make a short post 😂), I just wanted to give everyone an update and ask for a little patience and grace while we navigate all of this.
We are safe. We are together-ish. And I know things could have been so much worse. I'm trying really hard to focus on that part.
But if y'all could send a few prayers, good vibes, or maybe an insurance adjuster who actually answers the phone our way, we'd sure appreciate it. 😂❤️
