One of the biggest questions parents ask me is, "What do we do with teens during a photo session?

The answer is the same thing I do with little kids—we play games!

Now, they may not be the same silly games I play with toddlers, but I always find ways to keep things moving, interactive, and fun. Movement helps teens relax, stops the session from feeling awkward, and brings out those smiles.

And honestly, when we're at the beach, movement is magic. The wind, the sand, the waves, it all adds so much life to your photos. Walking, racing down the shoreline, splashing in the water, or simply interacting with each other creates images that feel natural and full of personality.

Because let's be honest... how many photos can you take standing perfectly still by the ocean before everyone gets bored?

My goal isn't just to take photos. It's to create an experience where your family can have fun together.

One of the most important things I do during a session is earn your child's trust. Without that trust, they're probably not going to want to participate, and honestly, who can blame them? A stranger shows up with a camera and suddenly everyone wants them to smile!

That's why I focus on making the session fun first. I use games, movement, and little adventures to help your kids relax and enjoy themselves. This is where you can help too! Join in on the silly games, laugh with them, and try not to focus on what they're not doing.

Once they're having fun and feeling comfortable,, I can ask them to stand next to Mom, give Dad a kiss on the cheek, or snuggle up beside their sister. Because we've built trust first, those moments happen naturally.

My sessions are a blend of play and gentle direction. We play a game, then I sneak in a photo opportunity. We run, laugh, and explore, then I guide everyone into a connected moment. I

Because if all of us spend the entire session saying "Smile at the camera!" a thousand times, nobody is going to have much fun.

Photo sessions are about opening up, being present, and allowing your family to simply be yourselves. As your photographer, I like to think of it as a dance. At the beginning, I’m learning your rhythm, how you interact, laugh, move, and connect with one another. As the session unfolds, we settle into a flow together, and by the end, we've created something that feels natural, meaningful, and uniquely yours.

And you have to check out the last photo.. it's epic! The timing couldn't have been more perfect. This sweet couple is getting married in August, and now they have an incredible photo to display on their wedding day. What a special memory to have as they begin this next chapter together!

A session with me always includes photos of just Mom and her kiddos.
Because honestly, how many selfies do we really have with our children?
As moms, we're often the ones behind the camera, capturing all the little moments. I love making sure you step into the frame too and giving you photos that show your children exactly what this season of life looked like together.
It's one of my favorite gifts to give my moms.

I totally understand that getting in front of the camera can feel stressful. In the days leading up to meeting my photographer friend Lauren, I went back and forth on what to wear, tossed five different outfits into my car, curled my hair twice, and changed my earrings four times. By the time we started shooting, the Florida heat had flattened my hair within minutes, and I was convinced my makeup was melting off my face.
But despite all of that, I had such a great time exploring, laughing, and creating new photos for my website and social media. It was a good reminder that the things we worry about most are rarely what matter in the final images. What matters is showing up, being yourself, and letting someone capture this season of your life.
