Burke Lake Park has quickly become one of my favorite spots for a family photography session here in Northern Virginia. It's the perfect backdrop for Fall, or any time of year for that matter! It is so much fun to photograph repeat clients as I get to see their children grow. I had the pleasure of photographing their 2-year-old as a newborn and now she is a big sister! Time flies.

Korean birthday celebrations or Dol are one of the important facets of Korean culture. The most common meaning is a child’s first birthday or Doljanchi. It can also be used as a generic description for birthdays: Cheot-dol.

This was little Joey’s Dol and I was beyond excited to document this important time in his life. I also had the pleasure of photographing their Maternity Session and Joey’s Newborn Session. For Joey’s Doljabi, he chose a bow & arrow which represented bravery. It was a lot of fun to learn about this Korean tradition.
