I just came up with a brilliant idea!!!!!
What about a networking webinar?
Here are the details....
I develop financial tools based on what I believe personal finance/everyday people and those who are venturing off to start their own business need.
I am currently working on an extremely simplified way to explain developing your own personal balance sheet and income statement.
I am ultimately trying to teach you how to see the future by managing cash flow!
By the way, this is different than budgeting when I am talking about seeing the future. I am talking about exploring forecasts for short term goals and maybe some hypothetical projections meaning what if scenarios for long term goals.
My current concern is that my current financial tools are too detailed so I am concerned that new folk are being overwhelmed.
By the way, I created the tools with extreme detail because I have met my share of do-it-yourselfers and I would rather educate you on the details such that you can manage your own details and when we talk we can spend our energy on strategies and brainstorming opportunities.
Yes! I am proud of my financial tools, but we all already get invited to local sales pitch webinars so I wanted to present a different offering.
I typically work on financial projects.
My approach is a team approach.
I am not here to convince you that I know everything.
You... and me as well....
We are already bombarded with the current approach to selling where the salesperson is presented as the expert for credibility and you are presented as the student.
It's a proven approach and.
Yes, as a licensed professional, I am expected and I do actually know alot.
But I would rather partner with my clients on financial projects!
Although thank you for the compliment for recognizing that I do know alot, but I do not know everything and there will be times where you will teach me something or I would have to just research the answer to your question.
The benefit of my experience is knowing the relevant questions to ask to resolve the problem.
Which means.
We discuss problems that you are trying to solve!
You are responsible for the Dreams, Visions, and Goals for your life with the associated financials.
I am joining your team to assist you with Strategic Planning, Executing, and Monitoring progress towards the aforementioned.
The idea.
We can not always meet face-to-face so why don't we just meet via Microsoft Teams?
What are the problems that I am trying to solve?
There are 3.
1. Not enough time in the day to organize and for all of us to meet face-to-face.
2. Technology is cool, but trust is built through actual human connections.
3. I want to create a space where upcoming entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to pitch their business to actual people and not just rely on LinkedIn ads.
How much would you pay to attend this Networking Event?
I am thinking Thursday nights from 8 pm to 10 pm.
Reason: Many folk still work a regular gig.

Two format ideas....
Idea #1
I really like for the emphasis to be on networking and giving an entrepreneur an opportunity to pitch their business.
I am thinking first come, first present.
I am not thinking Shark Tank as in investors.
I am thinking networking.
State your name, what you do, and why folk should hire you and we move on to the next person.
Everything has to be public! Soooooo if you do not want your image, business name, email, and direct cell phone number on the internet or emailed to everyone, then this project is not for you.
Idea #2
I struggle with this one as I do not see how it is any different than what everyone else is doing, buuuuuut maybe on a different day?
Meaning... I have presenters discuss topics specific to personal or business finance.
I am thinking fun topics like what are the pros and cons of off balance sheet transactions and what does that have to with Enron.
I said all of that to say....
I am at the gathering interest stage right now....

For the record, I would rather your attending/participating in this networking event be free and folk just donate whatever they feel was the value of attending.

As a small business, one of the tough things is a marketing budget!
There are only so many dollars available for marketing meaning paying for facebook ads, television, radio, etc.
So as smaller companies, we have to leverage technology and each other and see if there is another way for us to compete.
I actually believe in the importance of oversharing. lol...
Right now, I am working a regular 9 to 5, but I think I am finally at the point where I am ready to just do my own business full time.
One of the things that I do is recruit folk willing to get licensed into the life insurance industry, but I also sell other insurance products.
Buuuuuut please understand....
The purpose of the Thursday night networking event will not be me talking about my businesses or even financial tools for 2 hours.
I will do a short introduction to welcome everyone to the call and then set a timer ideally and announce the first person who will talk about their business, then the second, and then we will continue until everyone has had an opportunity to speak and a Q&A session for anyone who wants to ask questions before we wrap up the call...
So whether 10 people or 50 people talking in that 2 hour window or we cover everything in 30 minutes or less than an hour.... It does not matter as the goal is to build human relationships.
As a side bar....
I live in Pearland, Texas.
I love to sing and I am hoping to put together some local networking events as well.
You will ideally hear me sing, buuuuut I am trying to figure out the details for how to make sure that singers, rappers, and poets have an opportunity to network with recording, mixing, and mastering engineers as well as other musicians.
The concept is to create a jam session for singers and rappers where they can come out and rock the mic!
Think church for secular music!
Poets already seem to have open mics for them.
