Enjoyed spending the morning at the Governor's Mansion with Pastel Society of Mississippi. We had a tour of the mansion then went out to the garden to paint. Still have some work to do on this one, but like where it's going so far.

My favorite painting done during the Canton Flea Market last Thursday. It was a breezy day and the flags were in constant motion. I feel I captured that sense of movement in this. Each of my paintings done in Canton are currently available at Canton Tourism Welcome Center.

Join me this Thursday for the Canton Flea Market! I will painting around the square throughout the day, along with several other artists. Come watch us paint as you take in the sights and sounds of the vendors and shoppers. And don't forget to do some shopping yourself! This is a painting I did on the square during the Christmas Festival in December. Looking forward to seeing what catches my eye this time.

It's always freeing when I work on an abstract painting. Even though my abstracts are usually based on something specific, there is freedom in not trying to make it obvious and let the viewer interpret. That freedom then helps me not get stuck in the details when I do something more realistic. What do you see in this painting?
