Fine art photography puts the spotlight on personality. There's nothing stiff or traditional about it, and the kids have an absolute blast goofing off and hamming it up, which makes for the best photos. Follow the yellow brick wall (but for real, it makes the best backdrop). When Maddie reached out about some headshots for her acting portfolio, I was pretty excited. She's a performer heading to university to pursue her dream and she handled herself with the type of poise I would have loved to have when I was her age! This young woman is going places, and she's cute to boot!

Never has there been a more loved cat than Bumble, so much so, that she got her own mini session with her human. Admittedly, she was bribed for most of the photos, and she wanted to play hide-and-seek after awhile, but she has been so beloved for so long that it only made sense to book a pet session.

We love a good snuggly newborn around here, and extra points if I get to use books as a backdrop. Babies and books? That is a winning combination in my opinion. But if it came down to just one, I'd say babies always come out on top, those little rascals don't stay squishy for long, and the books will keep. Squish>Literature.

Twice a year, I get to be the photographer at the COOLEST recital. Grassroots Music School is not your average music lesson. Nope, these kid rock out on the drums, the electric guitar, the acoustic guitar, the uke, and the piano. They play everything from Taylor Swift to Seven Nation Army to songs they wrote themselves, and they do it with gusto! The couple who founded Grassroots, Nate and Alicia, are such creative and kind humans and I absolutely adore working with them. They're shaping the young musicians that walk through their doors in amazing ways!

Birthday sessions with my kids have been a long standing tradition, and this past year, I got a chance to document the twins turning 8 in my brand new studio! They had room to run around and goof off with their balloons. Harrison is our resident clown, always trying to get a laugh, but also quick to offer help and ideas. Garrett is quiet, thoughtful, and designs elaborate lego creations (he also beats us all at the rubik's cube). They don't mind the kind of session where they get to wrestle and hit each other with giant number balloons.
