WHY I SHOOT WEDNESDAY 📸🖤

I don’t shoot because I think every moment needs to be perfect.

I shoot because one day, the ordinary moments become the ones you’d give anything to have back.

The way your baby reaches for you.
The way your person looks at you when you aren’t paying attention.
The belly laughs. The messy hair. The little hands. The chaos.
The season of life you swear you’ll remember forever.

You probably won’t remember exactly what you wore.

You might not remember what the weather was like or whether everyone cooperated.

But you’ll remember how it felt.

That’s why I shoot.

Not just to give you pretty pictures to post.

I want to freeze a tiny piece of your life exactly as it is right now—because someday, right now will be a memory. 🖤

That’s the stuff worth keeping.

TSLOAN TUESDAY TALKS 🗣️📸

“But what if my kids don’t cooperate?”

Then… they don’t. 😂

Seriously. I don’t expect your toddler to stand perfectly still, smile on command, and lovingly gaze at their sibling for 45 minutes. I don’t expect your teenager to suddenly become thrilled about family pictures. And I definitely don’t expect your family to behave like you’re in a Target picture frame.

Let them be kids.

Let them run. Let them make the weird face. Let them cling to you. Let them belly laugh. Let them need a snack break. Let them take a minute if they’re overwhelmed.

Some of my favorite photos happen in the moments parents think are “going wrong.”

Because I’m not just photographing everyone looking at the camera.

I’m photographing your family as they are right now.

So please don’t spend your entire session apologizing to me because your kid is being a kid. I promise — I’m not judging you, and we are probably getting WAY better photos than you think. 🖤

Meet Syd. 🖤

Syd answered our senior model call and when I tell you this session turned out SO. AMAZINGLY. GOOD.

We wandered down backroads, laid in the grass, chased the sunset, ran through a field and — obviously — brought the Seven Brew along for the adventure. 😂

And THIS is exactly what I want senior sessions to feel like.

Not stiff. Not awkward. Not 45 minutes of “okay… now smile.”

I want your senior pictures to actually feel like YOU. Your favorite places. Your favorite things. The little pieces of who you are right now before life changes completely.

Syd absolutely KILLED this session, and that Arkansas sky understood the assignment. 🌅😭

Some clients book a session.

And some clients let you become a tiny part of their story. 🥹

I’ve had the absolute privilege of photographing this beautiful woman for years, and somehow, each time she comes back, I get to watch another little piece of her life unfold in front of my camera.

Different seasons. Different chapters. A growing family. And memories I’ve been trusted to preserve along the way. 🤍

THIS is one of my favorite parts of what I do.

It’s never just about taking pretty pictures. It’s about being invited back. Watching families grow. Seeing love evolve. And realizing that years later, I’m still the person they trust to capture it.

I shoot because one day, you’ll miss the hands.

The hands that made the pie.
The hands that cooked Sunday dinner.
The hands that held babies, wiped tears, folded laundry, and spent a lifetime taking care of the people they loved.

We’re always so worried about getting the perfect smile or the perfect pose that sometimes we forget—this is the stuff we’re going to ache for someday.

The wrinkles. The rings they always wore. The flour on their fingertips. The little things you never think to photograph because they feel so ordinary right now.

Until they aren’t.

That’s why I shoot.
Not just to give you pretty pictures.

TSLOAN TUESDAY TALKS 📸✨

Let’s talk about posing — or more specifically, why I don’t really want you to “pose” at all.

One of the biggest things I hear before a session is:

“I’m awkward in front of the camera.”
“I don’t know what to do with my hands.”
“You’re going to have to tell me what to do.”

GOOD. 😂 Because that’s literally my job.

I’m not expecting you to show up knowing how to model. I’m going to give you little prompts — walk toward me, bump hips, whisper something ridiculous, pull them in closer, look at each other instead of me.

Because I’m not just looking for the picture where everyone is perfectly still and smiling at the camera.

I want the laugh right after.
The way they look at you when you aren’t paying attention.
The messy hair.
The little hands grabbing yours.
The moments that actually feel like you.

So if you’ve ever thought, “I could never book a photoshoot because I’m too awkward…”

Same photo. Two completely different feelings. 👀

I’m constantly playing with the way an edit can change the entire mood of an image, and I genuinely can’t decide which version of this one I love more.

🤎 COLOR — warm, rich, moody, and those freckles are EVERYTHING.

🖤 BLACK + WHITE — timeless, emotional, and a little dramatic.
