Tomorrow I shoot my last wedding of 2020. My last wedding as a full time photographer. My emotions are all over the place. My photography career will not be ending, I am simply closing this chapter. Only God knows what the next chapter looks like. For now, I will be using my camera to create art, to capture personal memories, and to begin to heal after a hard year. I will no longer be governed by the need to earn an income with it.
The fact that my last wedding this year is Kinin Jade Stringer feels poetic. She is a dear friend and coworker from my full-time job. Another poetic aspect is that a young talented photographer from my area will be second shooting with me. Having Abby Alfred learning by my side feels like a symbolic passing of a torch.
Giving up something I’m passionate about for an unknown future sounds crazy. The peace coming from the decision sounds even crazier. Despite incredibly hard emotions surrounding this transition, I feel God’s hand on every piece of it. After I am done editing this wedding you can start asking how I love all my spare time 😜
