Sussex County Miners super fan Brandon Bordt was on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to Game 2 of last night’s doubleheader against the Brockton Rox.

Brandon’s larger-than-life personality and unmistakable passion for the Miners have made him a familiar face at Skylands Stadium, and last night he got his moment on the mound.

Called on to pinch run in the bottom of the eighth, Haiden Walters made his opportunity count.

Walters raced home with the game-winning run on a wild pitch to earn the Sussex County Miners a walk-off victory over the Brockton Rox and a sweep of Wednesday’s doubleheader at Skylands Stadium.

Sussex County Miners right-hander Kellen Brothers etched his name into the record books on Sunday, setting a new franchise single-season strikeout record.

Brothers recorded his 123rd strikeout of the season in the bottom of the second inning, making him the Miners’ new single-season record holder.

Manager Chris Widger made his way to the mound following the record-setting punchout to recognize the moment.

Fittingly, Brothers reached the milestone at Hinchliffe Stadium, the same ballpark where he made his professional debut on May 26, 2024, also on a Sunday.

Brothers would ultimately record 5 more strike outs through the remainder of his outing to bring his season total to 128 and move him atop the 2026 Frontier League leaderboard with one week remaining in the regular season.

From his first professional appearance to a place in the Miners record book, Brothers’ journey came full circle in Paterson.

New Jersey Jackals right-hander Sonny Fauci was dominant in Game 1 of Friday’s doubleheader against the Sussex County Miners.

Despite taking a no-decision, the 25-year-old delivered six strong innings, allowing just two runs while striking out 10 to lower his ERA to 4.19 on the season.

Fauci currently leads the Frontier League with 122 strikeouts, ahead of Quebec’s Braeden Allemann (120) and Sussex County’s Kellen Brothers (119).
