This series of images is intended to visually show the impact of generational trauma, and the effect the patriarchy has on mother - daughter relationships.
Wings represent personal freedom, power, wholeness, identity and the ability to take up space.
In the series, the mother figure experiences both the direct attack and destruction of those parts of her, represented by her wings from the outside, and eventually - by her own hands.
Her wings no longer represents safety, freedom or power. She knows what she has to do.
