We have a family of great horned owls who have taken over an osprey nest not far from our house. The nest is at the corner of a very busy intersection and very high up. I hope when the young ones fledge, they don't fall to their deaths! Normally these owls nest in trees and the young leave the nest at about 5 weeks, climbing on nearby branches until they learn to fly at about 9-10 weeks. With no branches on this man-made osprey nest, I don't know how the juveniles will learn to fly without falling. 🙁
