Couldn't let the day pass without taking a moment to celebrate this little one's first birthday! Her's was the first ever birth that I photographed so I think it will always feel extra special.

Can you imagine for a second, years from now when this little baby is grown, and she sees this picture and just how immensely in love her daddy was at first sight?

Because I am and I'm tearing up a little.

I'm all about finding these beautiful reminders of what life is like when I'm working. I don't have any kiddos myself yet, but I've worked for years as a nanny, and I know that this is the reality of living with kids! When they outgrow it, you won't miss it, but you'll love these reminders that yes, you did spend years of your life picking carrots off the floor.

I'm also available to do little lifestyle, "slice of life" sessions where I capture your amazing, messy, beautiful reality. Contact me on my website!

No matter how many times I look at photos of this little girl, her tiny little feet (and nose, and ears, and fingers...) flood me with cuteness overload.

Did you know that I only take a limited number of birth clients each month? In order to ensure I am able to get your photos to you within 2 weeks, and to minimize the risk of overlapping with another family's labor, I try to really space out my clients. Plus, I feel that it allows us the time to connect so much better!

Here's my current availability for the beginning of 2022! I am also still taking clients in December! If you're at all interested in working with me to capture your story, send me a message and we can chat!

I recently discovered yin yoga and have fallen in love with the practice! If you're unfamiliar with yin yoga, you hold poses for an extended period of time for a really deep stretch. I like Yoga with Kassandra on YouTube and I just saw that she has a prenatal yin video and had to share! I am the least flexible person I know, but I like this because it's all about meeting your body where it's at and very adaptable to modifications and prop usage.

This mom was so happy to get her Starbucks treat after giving birth! She was totally looking forward to it while in labor.

What was the first thing you were looking forward to eating or drinking after giving birth?

When I was making this post, I knew exactly which photo I wanted to use: an image from my last birth of a mom breastfeeding. After all, this is a post about infant feeding. Now, that breastfeeding photo is sitting on my desktop and you're seeing a completely different photo.

Hold up, what?

In my trainings this week, we have been learning about and discussing infant feeding and I have realized how incomplete my knowledge is when it comes to feeding options. A lot of the everyday dialogue I have been exposed to is breast milk vs formula, b**b vs bottle. I have heard very little (if anything) about other options such as syringe feeding, spoon feeding, cup feeding, or SNS.

Not to mention the intricate web of factors which inform a family unit's choices: the health, comfort, tolerance and desires of all involved (baby, the gestational parent, and other parents), work policies, life circumstances, and cultural norms. The list could go on and on!

So I chose not to use a bodyfeeding photo because this post is about expanding our views on and challenging the norms of infant feeding.

Infant feeding is a very complex and individual choice. It's important that families have options and support in choosing how to feed their baby, and a good step toward this is to talk about it. As with birth, I aim to celebrate everyone's unique journey in infant feeding.

I love this photo of this blissed-out Mama! She looks so happy and beautiful and proud to be holding her daughter. Is this a postpartum glow or just the absolute contentment of finally meeting your baby?

Newborns always look so fragile! What made you realize that they're not as easily broken as they appear?
