I asked chat GPT to describe a typical photographer and got this:

"Photographers are the only people who can turn “stand over there for a second” into a full-blown engineering project.

A few reasons:

They see everything in rectangles. “What a beautiful sunset!” becomes, “Hang on, I need to find a better foreground.”

They'll spend $3,000 to photograph something they could have seen with their eyes for free.

They own 14 lenses but somehow always need the one that's currently at home.

They'll lie flat in mud for a picture of a duck. The duck is usually unimpressed.

They say “natural light” as though the sun is a piece of studio equipment they personally invented.

They'll take 847 photos of the same bird and insist that Photo #612 is “almost there.”

They have an inexplicable relationship with tripods. A photographer can spot a perfectly flat surface and immediately think, “Excellent place to deploy the legs.”

They'll arrive at a beautiful location and spend ten minutes photographing a rock because the light is “doing something interesting.”

They refer to perfectly normal objects as “subjects.” Suddenly a trash can has a career.

They can spend an entire afternoon chasing the “golden hour,” only to discover that clouds have arrived and ruined everything.
And if you ask, “Can you just take a quick picture?” you've unknowingly initiated a 45-minute production involving exposure compensation, histograms, three lenses, and a lecture about dynamic range.

The truly silly part?

After all that, they'll show you the photograph and say:

“I don't know. I think I prefer the one I took on my phone.”"
