We all have that one friend that thinks it's a good idea to wake up at 0400 to drive 2 hours and hike for a sunrise..
I was not that friend.
BUT am thankful to have that friendxo
even though it was too foggy for a sunrise.
Always a great time hiking with these two!xo

I had friends tell me about this spot earlier this summer and as soon as I looked it up I knew I had to check it out!
Finally did it as a day hike a few weeks ago!

Let The Words Write Themselves.
For years I would spend nights writing my lyrics for the bands I was in. When I was just starting I'd have a plan for what I wanted to say. Normally I'd get off track and the words would create their own story. Eventually I stopped planning, I'd turn off my brain and let my pen take over.
Now.
I've had so much life experiences fall into my lap that wasn't planned.
I'm learning that with life too I need to let go of the pen. The more I plan the more I feel trapped.
This shot of a foggy morning on Emerald Lake is the perfect example of letting the pen take over. At no point did we plan to hit Emerald but it quickly became a highlight of the weekend.

Push or Chill
I've written before about my old mentality of always having to push when I go somewhere. When I was in Ottawa (without mountains) every vacation was a grind for peaks. Earlier this summer I took my first no peak vacation in as long as I can remember. This weekend and I hiked all our camping gear to Egypt Lake but decided to skip the grind up to the peak. It feels weird but Banff is now only a couple hours away and I'll be back. Camping Egypt Lake was on my bucketlist and although I didn't do Pharaoh Peaks it was still awesome! and I'm lucky enough to be able to say I'll grab those peaks when I'm back next month 🤘
Sometimes chill is good and I'm slowly learning that
