A photographer’s perspective…

We get invited into y’all’s lives for what really seems like such a short amount of time, but in that time we really do get to know you, your family, your personalities, the way you love each other, the connections between everyone, the laughs, the chaos, the little things that make your family yours… and honestly, it’s one of the most beautiful parts of being a photographer.

We get to capture all of those emotions and connections and moments that may not seem like a huge deal while they’re happening, but one day they might mean absolutely everything, and that is such a beautiful and rewarding part of what I do, but sometimes it can also be incredibly heartbreaking because when you invite us into your lives, even for just a little while, we become a tiny part of your story too… and as we all know, life happens.

I think that’s part of why Life’s A Beach has always been such a fitting name for my business, because you really never know what life is going to throw at you, sometimes life is a bitch, sometimes it’s messy and unfair and makes absolutely no sense… but at the same time, life can be so incredibly beautiful, and those beautiful parts are worth capturing.

Take the pictures, even when you don’t feel your best, even when life is chaotic, even when the kids won’t cooperate, because one day those pictures might mean more than you ever could have imagined.

There is something really cool about getting to watch families come back year after year. Engagement photos become wedding photos. Wedding photos become maternity photos. Maternity photos become family photos. I never take that for granted.
