I often hear from parents that their kids don’t like taking photos or they don’t smile for photos. I think that’s pretty normal and I appreciate the authenticity of it. When we condition our families to ONLY smile for the camera, we rob ourselves of the tiny moments and feelings we will surely miss when this chapter of life is over. The mischievous sparkle in their eyes that lasts for a split second. The crinkle of their nose when they just can’t stand the tickles anymore. The seemingly blank expression that’s quickly passed off as indifference, but if you know your kid well, you know it’s the expression of learning and wonder….. and you’d do anything to bottle that forever. Smiles are wonderful, but so is the entirety of their little existence, and that’s what I love documenting during family sessions. 💕
