The last three weeks have flown by, so happy to spend time with my cousin 𝑨𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒂𝑻𝒐𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒓𝒊 ✨ & Matteo Brunella and her beautiful friends Aurora Rossi 🌞 & Daniele De Angelis from Rome (on their first trip to the US). From the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Palm Springs and Joshua Tree - till we meet again in Italia (hopefully sooner than later) love ya to the end of the world!
Thanks Jake Segre & Jim for being extreme chauffeurs (1000s of miles logged) & Danielle Segre for being a trooper despite the broken ankle!

I’m ready for summer to be over, my heart can’t handle anymore. Words from my post on Kelly Segre account.

For Richard ❤️

It’s strange how someone can be absent from your everyday life for decades and still hold such a permanent place in your heart.

Richard was my mother’s partner when I was very young. They eventually went their separate ways, and although he wasn’t part of my adult life (although he was part of my early adult life) the impact he had on my childhood never left me. He became one of the most important father figures I had growing up, and one of the men I respected most in my life.

He always called me “Pip Squeak” — a nickname that somehow followed me well into adulthood. And my very first job was working for his company, so he was woven into some of my earliest memories of growing up.

It’s probably been decades since I last saw you. Maybe the last time was my wedding, over 20 years ago. Life has a funny way of changing, people move, years pass, and relationships sometimes become distant without the love disappearing.

And that’s what I keep thinking about now.

Despite the distance, the time, and all the changes life brought, you always held a special place in my heart. You were one of those people who helped shape who I became.

I’m grateful for the memories, for the lessons and for the love that remained even when we were no longer part of each other’s everyday lives.

Goodbye, Richard.

I hope you knew how much you meant to me.

I’ll always be your Pip Squeak. ❤️

Week recap. It’s been a couple weeks since my return from the massive roadtrip…but even though I’ve been a little quiet does not mean it’s been quiet. The last 10 days have been filled with adventure since my cousin is visiting from Rome (her first time in California) so that means plenty of exploring…of course that includes Joshua Tree, Salvation Mountain, Giant Rock on quads (thank you Karma ) and little pool lesson thanks to Christine Coverdale and what type of California experience would it be if we didn’t throw a Los Angeles Dodgers game in the mix! So happy to have family visit…next week is Vegas! All photos taken on Leica Camera USA Q2

Day 7 of Roadtrip - Part 2 - Mississippi Delta, Hwy 61, Crossroads. To quote Bob Dylan - Some people chase landmarks. I chased a song.

Highway 61 Revisited led me to Dockery Farms, a crossroads long linked to the Robert Johnson legend, and finally to Clarksdale. Whether it’s history, folklore, or somewhere in between, the Delta still sings.

This is the magical place of music legends.

Road Trip Day 7 - Sunday Morning Aug 2, 2026 Memphis, TN. So there’s nothing like going on a long road trip after a funeral - it’s a great opportunity for life reflection. We put a lot of thought into what path we wanted to take home and decided on going towards the roots of my passion. Music…it’s so prevalent in my photography, so this route made the most sense.

Memphis never disappoints. The morning walk going through Beale Street and then continuing in the car to pay our respects to MLK at the Lorraine Motel where we met Jaqueline Smith, the motels last tenant - evicted in 1988. She has been peacefully protesting the location of the Civil Rights Musuem in front of the Lorraine Motel for nearly 38 years. While she believes there should absolutely be a Civil Rights Musuem - it shouldn’t be at the motel where residents lived and a Musuem was built - displacing the residents who didn’t have anywhere else to go, which she says is not what MLK would have wanted.

Our next Memphis stop was of course Sun Records followed by the Stax Records Musuem. So if you know me, you know that Stax Records is 100 percent my favorite record label - so much so that when watching the video about how they were shut down in the mid 1970s, I literally shed a few tears (The Average Jim had a laugh at this). The last photo may be the perfect self portrait of me…my reflection surrounded by Stax 45s.

Day 1 of Road Trip from California to Kalamazoo and back. Adventures to be had - time to say goodbye to Todd and give Betsy McCue | Bo***ir Photographer & Empowerment Coach in person hugs. Roadtrips with Jim have always been a stress reliever for me and this cross country trip is no different, besides Kalamazoo - there is no definitive plans - those who have travelled on the road with me in the past know it can be so random, one day I’ll say I want to go to Montana and find myself instead in Mississippi…letting the universe guide us on this one (within reason…we do need to find our way back home late next week). But Day 1 we made it through the Mojave Desert, Utah and settled in Grand Junction, Colorado where we saw a Christmas tree in July.
