The new design for the Palm Springs AIDS Memorial has been released. Called “The Well of Love,” the Memorial will share three simple messages: Forever Remembered, Forever Loved, and Forever Celebrated. The Memorial will include a distinct space for remembrance and reflection, defined by two entries and two benches in a 20-foot diameter circle. It will feature three vertical faces that each hold an oval “pool of tears” unique to its message. “Forever Remembered” depicts a single drop of water sending ripples outward, representing the memory of each unique individual lost. "Forever Loved” depicts multiple drops merging together, representing the caregivers, loved ones, friends, family, medical staff, organizations, and local businesses of the community. “Forever Celebrated” depicts the ripple effects from many drops coming together to create a rippled surface. This represents the lasting effect of the lives celebrated through this Memorial.

I'm so happy to call Lynn a friend and coworker from our days at People Express Airlines, starting in (gasp!) spring of 1981!

Lynn Rippelmeyer started out as a flight attendant in 1972. A few years later, she was part of a record-breaking all-female crew and became the first woman to pilot a 747.

Rest in Peace, dear Phil... lighting designer of a multitude of awesome theatrical productions in Palm Springs, including so so many of the productions of Dezart Performs. We will miss you and your sweet pal Duncan on our rehearsal sets. Thank you for your immense talents.

"Phil began a 46-year career in the broadcasting/entertainment industry as a radio station production manager at Indiana University’s WFIU, then television news photographer and on-air reporter at WLWI/WTHR; moved into TV ad sales locally in Indianapolis with WTHR, relocated to LA with Blair TV as a national rep. He created an independent company to produce subscription TV programs, which led into the role heading Operations at Paramount Television, overseeing 85 technical people handling worldwide distribution of TV shows. The corporate split of Paramount & CBS placed Phil's operations department with CBS until retirement in May 2010. Then able to pursue former hobbies full time, Phil was again designing theatre stage lighting, a hobby he formerly did at Footlite Musicals in Indianapolis until the 1980’s. Phil accepted a position on the Board of Directors of Coyote StageWorks in Palm Springs in January 2011. He and his longtime partner Robert McCracken were key supporters of Desert Rose Playhouse, where Phil oversaw lighting design. He also lit productions at Dezart Performs, Palm Canyon Theater, Desert Theaterworks, and the International Date Festival Pageant. Phil has been nominated and won numerous awards from the Desert Theatre League. Phil also designed lights for Lucie Arnaz: Latin Roots performance at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert."
