Do you have your priceless images backed up to a safe place? We have all heard of the dreaded "I lost all of my pictures" or "my hard drive crashed."⠀⠀

Our preferred method: Backblaze. For $5/month (when you buy one year) it automatically detects new files on your computer and plugged in hard drives and backs them up online. The best part for image-hoarders like us - there is no storage limit!⠀⠀

Photo tip: Have you heard of HDR? It stands for “high dynamic range.”

In basic terms, an HDR image takes 3 or more images at different exposures and combines them to give your photo the maximum amount of detail in the shadows and highlights.

For the landscape photos I took in Italy (I shared more of those on the blog) I knew I wanted to retain the color and detail in the bright sky AND in the more shaded buildings. Switching my camera to the HDR setting allowed me to do that!

If your camera doesn’t have HDR capabilities, you can also take the same photo at different exposures on any camera and combine them in the Lightroom HDR tool.

Go play around with it and let us know what you think! If you’re not sure where the setting is on your specific camera - Google is your best friend! 😘
