Ashography Colorado Photographer

Ashography Colorado Photographer I am a Colorado mountain elopement photographer that tends to giggle from behind the camera because I love what I do. I am an observer and like to study group dynamics. Hear me out. That MAY sound creepy, but that is literally what I am paid to do. I take real pictures for real people in the real moments that happen. I love looking out for those special moments. I love what I do because I get to know so many amazing people. I offer customized luxury elopement packages that create an stress-free day and give the ultimate mountain elopement experience. Whether you’re an adventurous go-getter or the laid back, chill, we-just-want-pretty views for our “I Do” moment–I get it. You don’t just need pictures, you need anniversary-making memories. The kind you want to share with friends, put on your wall, and gift to your parents when the day is done.

Ashlee Bratton is a professional photographer of over 13 years, focusing on in-love couples in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Currently, she keeps her cameras in hand in Southern Colorado, is a complete and total foodie, and takes plane rides for fun. Admittedly, I need adventures in my life and it is important to me to have people in my world who also love that too. That’s how I fell in love

with wedding and elopement photography. Intimate, small, passionate adventures with just the ones who matter most. I live in an area that has the Rio Grande National Forest and the Great Sand Dunes National Park with all its beauty at my fingertips and can share it with my couples and families.

I’ve got three proposals in a 10 day period, love is in the mountain air. And each one is so different! I love being sneaky. So I’ve been the lonely girl journaling on a rock by a waterfall, a friendly stalker that jumps out of the bushes, a family photo session-turned proposal, and many others. We get a game plan together over a phone call and then let the shenanigans begin. They’ve all ended with a yes and celebration champagne toasts—I ❤️ engagements.

To all those who push through the awkward, the exhaustion, the opposition, the pointlessness, and the question marks—I see you. More importantly, God sees you. What you do is worthy of an award and a standing ovation. Keep going.

Story time.
Wanna see what I see as a photographer when I sit down to go through my camera cards and edit a session? Take a sneak peek of some behind the scenes computer time. This is usually when I’m holed up like a troll in a messy bun sitting in a blanket nest, a cup of coffee in hand and settling in for a few hours to look and see what I really got on my camera. Here is a series of raw, unedited photos that I am clicking through to preview and select to choose what makes it into the editing que. I have to view first and pick out what will go on to be edited and what doesn’t. It’s part of my workflow. Sometimes it’s fun to just hold down the button to see an entire series like a movie. I’m not a videographer and specialize in still photography, but I can “play” my photos like a movie and begin to curate in my head how I want to tell the story. Then the selected photos go on to be edited and turned into a gallery that eventually ends up in my client’s inbox and hopefully cherished and turned into prints and canvases on their wall to be enjoyed long into the future.

I’m so excited to edit this session. Adventure elopements make my heart sing. I love having fun and cutting loose with couples during mountain elopements and having FUN. And if this is what I see on my screen in the culling stages before I even get to the editing phase, I know it’s going to be a good day.

I’ve got some good screen time in my future. Here we goooooo!

This weekend was a blast shooting 7 cats during a pet portrait session. "Ash, you're a pet portrait photographer?!" Uh no, this was a customized engagement shoot for one of my wedding clients later this summer. Two of their beautiful kitties will be incorporated into their wedding day plans and when she approached me with the idea to capture some or all of their feline friends beforehand, I was IN.

Animals of any variety always add pizazz to a day and one never quite knows exactly how things will go. Approaching a session with an open mind to enjoy whatever they decide to share seems to always lead to some great stuff and even more enjoyable memories. I love fur friends and I especially love couples who make their wedding day uniquely theirs.

I'm IN.

Just sent sneak peeks to this cutie patootie senior from our session shot yesterday. Madi and her friend drove 12 hours just to do a session here in South Fork. (Three or four seniors this summer did that exact same thing--whoa, is this becoming a trend?!) It is an honor to be a part of someone's milestone and next chapter. Have fun at prom next week Madi!

Best day EVER! Congratulations to Loren + Lisa who flew all the way from Chicago to tie the knot with some of the best views Wolf Creek has to offer. The day wouldn’t have been complete without a shotski and a ride on the magic carpet. (Kudos to our favorite liftees who blasted Bruno Mars “Marry You” while they danced their way through the tunnel of love.) I loooooooove my adventure couples! Thank you to the entire team for making this happen and giving them the best memories to start their adventure together. I love our mountain community.
