One of the things my husband and I bonded over when we first met was photography. For me it was a hobby, for him it had graduated from hobby to side business and he was shooting weddings. I second shot a few times, and eventually I became a professional photographer and he went back to it just being a hobby. Recently he’s picked his camera back up and started getting into documentary film making and still photography again. It has inspired me, and reminded me how much I love still life photography too. So I’ve included some images I took during our sunflower session.

These sunflower fields were on my drive home just a few miles from the house. I loved passing them everyday, and was a little sad when they withered. But seasons change-as we all know, and I will have these memories forever. I included some sunflower photos from 5 years ago-a whole different season indeed.

I was warned that little dude had a rough time last year for family photos. So I took it as a personal challenge to make sure we got smiles. By the end of the session we were besties. He held my hand off the shuttle and made my mamma heart turn into a puddle and we played peek-a-boo in the lavender.
